Topspin’s office may look like a typical start-up: minimalist decor, laptops everywhere, fridge full of beer, etc. But underneath the ping-pong table, a secret door reveals a musty staircase leading down to…our SECRET LABORATORY! Mwahahaha! [[cue ominous Wurlitzer chord]]
OK, maybe not. But we DO have a team of mad-scientist developers who are constantly creating experimental new features. As these tools take shape, you’ll be able to test them by activating Topspin Labs in your account. To enable Labs, just login to the Admin, go to Account > Artist Profile, and scroll down until you see “Topspin Labs”. Check the box, save your settings, and voila! You can now begin using our Labs features, starting with this one:
Hot off the bunsen burner, we’ve got an Email-For-Media (E4M) Widget that will automatically adapt itself to the iPad & iPhone with an HTML5 presentation. This puppy lets you capture new fans on almost any device, anywhere, anytime. As the full-fledged Internet migrates to multiple screens/devices, we want to ensure that our clients can capture new fans through as many channels as possible. Since Apple famously declared HTML5 the new standard for the mobile web, we knew we had to get our widgets on-board ASAP. It wasn’t just us — our users have been demanding this feature for a while, and we’re proud to announce that IT’S ALIIIIVE!!!….ahem, I mean, “it’s live”. Note that with Labs enabled, the embed code for the E4M widget differs slightly from the normal script. You’ll need to embed this new code wherever you want an HTML5-friendly widget to appear. If you don’t have Labs enabled, you will simply get the same E4M you’re familiar with.
An important disclaimer: Topspin Labs features have undergone some testing, but they should be considered “beta” at best. We invite you to try these features out, and if you have problems and suggestions, please note them on Get Satisfaction. However, be advised that you may run into strange and unanticipated behavior in some cases. Use at your own risk. Welcome to the future.
