Thirty One is a special collection of all Manchester UK based artists including Elbow, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, I Am Kloot, Everything Everything, Durutti Column, and many more, curated and compiled by Dave Haslam. Profits benefit the organization CALM (the Campaign Against Living Miserably), working to combat the high suicide rates of young men in the UK. Thirty One is an amazing snapshot capturing the undeniable quality of the Manchester music scene. I caught Elbow at the LA Greek Theater this fall, as well as Coachella earlier in the year and was riveted both times. The song Lippy Kids really got me so I’m glad to see it appear on Thirty One with a Live Version from Pinkpop.

I wasn’t aware of the suicide epidemic in England for young men. The CALM organization and the caliber of artists involved with this release are making a difference to those who feel despair.
