Topspin was founded in 2007 by Peter Gotcher (Founder, Digidesign) and Shamal Ranasinghe (Yahoo! Music, Musicmatch) with a dream of building a platform that could do for media marketing what software had done for media production in the years previous. We’re fortunate to have a talented and dedicated team, all drawn to Topspin by a promise of helping artists earn a living. Please take a moment, watch these videos, and meet a few of them.

Topspin’s executive team is:

Bob Moczydlowsky, VP Product and Marketing

Bob has dedicated his career to removing obstacles between artists and fans. He’s managed bands and events and created artist web sites. In 1996, he created one of the web’s first licensed streaming music sites. Prior to Topspin, Bob worked at Yahoo! Music, founded the media agency Closed System, and worked closely with the Sundance Institute and the NEA to help musicians, filmmakers and educators. Bob holds degrees from KU and Carnegie Mellon Universtity, and teaches in CMU’s Master of Entertainment Industry Management program.

Ian Rogers, CEO

Ian has been helping artists make the most of the web since 1993. Until April, 2008 he was VP and General Manager of Yahoo! Music and Yahoo! Video. Previously he was President & CTO of Mediacode (sold to Yahoo!), Pres. of New Media at Grand Royal, Webmaster at Nullsoft (sold to AOL) and CTO at rVision. He dropped out of a Computer Science PhD program in 1995 to assist Beastie Boys on tour. He holds a BA in Computer Science from Indiana University.

Kris Wehner, VP Engineering

Prior to joining Topspin early in 2009, Kris was the Chief Technical Officer at Aggregate Knowledge, an IAAS company delivering audience profiles and targeting analytics. Previously Kris had been a Senior Software Engineer and Systems Architect at Salesforce.com and Tribe. Kris holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University.
